Short Sightedness of a Publisher

Scene: The Publisher’s Offer Sara sits at her desk, the late afternoon sunlight, muted by the blinds she usually kept drawn, tries to seep through the slats, like the oppressive thoughts of the toxic people from her past—always pushing at the edges of her peace, never quite able to enter fully but always lingering. The light, however, feels too warm, almost suffocating, as if it, too, is pressing in on her, unwilling to let go. The room, usually a haven of calm, now feels as though it’s closing in on her.
